An active summer in the Vožice region: cycling and swimming in the heart of nature
The landscape around Chateau Radvanov is gently rolling, with woods, fields and tree-lined roads in every direction. It is not flat and monotonous, but it is not punishing mountain terrain either. In other words, it is ideal for active days out, whether you prefer cycling or walking.
🚴 Cycling through “Czech Siberia”
The area around Mladá Vožice and Votice is often nicknamed “Czech Siberia” — not because of the weather, but because of its raw, unspoiled beauty.
- For an easy ride: Take the quiet back roads towards Šebířov and Kamberk. Traffic is minimal, and the lanes are lined with old fruit trees.
- For stronger legs: Head towards Jistebnice and the Jistebnice Highlands Nature Park. You will be rewarded with beautiful views and a good dose of proper hills.
🏊 Outdoor Swimming
When the summer heat arrives, forget crowded pools. South Bohemia is a land of ponds.
Knížecí Pond (near Tábor)
A natural swimming area with a sandy beach and good basic facilities. Boats are available to rent here too.
Chýnov Quarry
If you prefer something a little wilder, try the former quarry near Chýnov. The water is colder, but crystal clear.
Mladá Vožice Outdoor Pool
If you prefer a classic pool and facilities for children, the town swimming pool in Mladá Vožice is just a short drive away and comes with beautiful views of Šelmberk Castle.
🎾 Tennis at the Chateau
Do not forget that you do not need to go anywhere for sport. We have a tennis court right here on the Chateau Radvanov grounds. An early-morning match before breakfast or an evening game at sunset has a magic of its own in the chateau park.
